Crazy weekend on-tap in Ann Arbor.
The 6th annual Kids Read Comics celebration returns to the Downtown Ann Arbor District Library Saturday and Sunday, with satellite locations at 826 Michigan’s Robot Supply and Repair and the Ann Arbor Art Center.
If you haven’t been to this event, you should definitely check it out. It’s not just about reading comics, it’s about creating comics, about the power of art, and about the craft of creating a narrative with strong characters, humor, and charm. There are author signings as well as workshops. It’s just a wonderful, positive event.
Also check out this interview about how it got started, and Jerzy Drozd’s Ignite talk Why Comics are Great.
Also on Saturday, at long last the Ann Arbor Skatepark is holding it’s grand opening, 10-6 Veteran’s Memorial Park - featuring demos, DJs, beginner skate lessons, and TONY HAWK. WUT!
Its a great story of the community coming together to build something awesome.
